For more than a century, The Butchart Gardens has combined a passion for gardening and a commitment to hospitality. It's 22 hectares/ 55 acres of wonderful floral display on a magnificent country estate built on a worked-out quarry, attracting visitors year round.

During the spring, blossoming trees, flowers and shrubs blanket the gardens in bright colors. Summer is a favourite time for lovers of roses. From July to September the evenings come alive, while Night Illuminations create fantastic designs of light and shadows in the gardens.

With fall comes the brilliant blend of red, gold and copper hues of Japanese maples, dahlias and chrysanthemums. From December to early January it's the Magic of Christmas. With Christmas lights and a Twelve Days of Christmas displays throught.

  Afternoon Tea is served daily in the former family home, Benvenuto, with great views of the gardens. A coffee shop serves soups, sandwiches and other light fare.

Maintained by descendants of the founding family, The Butchart Gardens is a National Historic Site of Canada.
